Since 1957, IBM's facility in Vermont has been a leader in design and manufacture of microelectronic components. Today it is one of the world's top producers of semiconductor technology with nearly 5,400 employees in facilities comprising 3.5 million square feet on 725 acres. The site's manufacturing lines operate 24- hours-a-day, yea- round. The facility produces microchips used by leading electronics and computer companies worldwide, including IBM, Nintendo, Sony, Qualcom, Cisco and others.
